A recap on 2020 from the Celsius Property Management Team

With the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the New Year done and dusted, let’s take a moment to reflect on the year that was 2020.

It started on a high note when Kate, our Assistant (at the time), was in New Zealand in February when her partner got down on one knee and proposed! Congrats Kate! At this stage, COVID-19 was a distant virus overseas that we never saw turning into a global pandemic. Within just a few weeks, toilet paper was flying off the shelves along with canned vegetables, rice, and pasta, when the Government proposed a lockdown. This changed everything. For some, this meant working from home, being stuck on site, home schooling. Or more seriously, not being able to see loved ones, struggling to get home, financial stress, or losing their jobs. It was a year of challenges, struggles, but also some hidden positives and we thank you for your support and co-operation through this difficult time.

While the office was closed, we took this as an opportunity to declutter and revamp! When we were told we could return to work, it was exciting to see the new space and also a blessing to a small handful of us could not quite get the hang of FaceTime or Microsoft Teams during social distancing so it was a relief to be back!

Another one of those hidden positives that took place at the beginning of 2020 was hearing that our Trust Accountant, Pippin, was going to be a grandmother! Pippin has had a busy year of receipting rent and helping the team organise any rent reductions for affected tenants. With Perth’s vacancy rate slowly dropping throughout the last few months (now at an all-time low of 0.8%) we have had a busy year! No wonder the coffee machine needed more services.

We welcomed a new addition to the team, Michayla, our Assistant Property Manager and she has hit the ground running! After spending 12 months overseas teaching English, she has come home to Perth and brought her bright and bubbly personality to our office. This meant our Assistant at the time, Kate, was able to start her own portfolio and step up into the role of a Celsius Property Manager – a well-deserved promotion. Shortly after welcoming Michayla to the team, we were also happy to have Kasey start with us in October 2020! With her previous experience in the industry and her friendly, approachable attitude, our team has grown.

Despite the negatives that COVID-19 brought to the world, it meant great things for our short-term accommodation at The Tide in Scarborough. This co-living complex has been fully booked all year and we are not seeing any vacancies in our books until the end of the month!

Every year, Celsius like to encourage their staff to contribute or volunteer for a charity of our choice and for the second year in a row, our Property Management Team focused our efforts on The Smith Family Christmas Appeal. Each team member donated a present as well as their time on Sunday December 13th handing the gifts out to children who may need to end their year on a brighter note.

Speaking of a brighter note – Pippin is now a grandmother to a healthy granddaughter! Congrats!

On behalf of our Property Management Team, we would like to thank you, our clients, for your support throughout the year that was 2020. We are excited for the year ahead!

Kind regards,

Taryn
