Construction continued to progress strongly throughout August, with the building continuing to rise and becoming an increasingly prominent feature of the North Perth town centre.
The final section of the second floor suspended slab was poured at the end of August, completing another major floor of the building. The third floor suspended slab is now approximately 50% complete, with a small area of formwork also commencing for the fourth floor.
Core walls and other vertical structural elements have continued to advance across the site, while installation of the precast façade panels has also progressed. The brick insert precast panels are now extending across a significant portion of the lower levels, giving a much clearer indication of the building’s finished appearance.
The public artwork panels along the right of way have now been fully installed. Designed by local Whadjuk-Ballardong artist Yondee Shane Hansen, the artwork depicting Derbarl Yerrigan (the Swan River) has been cast directly into the precast façade panels. The completed result looks excellent and has created a distinctive feature along this elevation of the building.
Hydraulic and fire services installation is now underway throughout the basement and will continue to progress as more areas become available. This is occurring alongside the ongoing structural works on the upper levels.
A few days were lost to inclement weather during August. Despite this, the builder has continued to manage the works effectively and remains on program.
Looking ahead to September, works will focus on progressing the third floor suspended slab, increasing activity on the fourth floor and continuing the vertical structure. The builder is also aiming to commence installation of the infill panels that will form the balcony edges along Alma Road, before progressively continuing around the perimeter of the building. This will be another significant milestone, as these panels will begin to define the balconies and substantially change the external appearance of the building. Hydraulic and fire services will also continue throughout the lower levels as access becomes available.
