Alma Square – January 2026 Project Update
Since the last update in November, the project has continued to progress steadily, with several key milestones achieved. Works remain on program, with no delays to report.
The pile cap has now been fully completed, marking the conclusion of the piling works. Following this, excavation for the crane base was undertaken and the crane footing poured. The tower crane has since been successfully erected and is now operational, providing a major boost to site efficiency as works transition further into the basement and superstructure stages.
Basement excavation is now largely complete, with approximately three quarters of the basement excavated to its final level. A portion of the basement was intentionally left unexcavated to allow for more efficient sequencing of the initial structural works within the excavated areas. This strategy has enabled other critical activities to commence without delay.
Shotcreting of the exposed piles has now begun. Shotcreting involves spraying concrete at high pressure onto the exposed pile walls to provide both structural support and ground retention to the basement perimeter. This process stabilises the excavation and prepares the basement walls for the permanent structural elements to be constructed.
A number of the building foundations have now been excavated and poured, with erection of the first columns also underway. This marks the initial stages of the superstructure beginning to rise out of the ground.
Excavation of the sewer pump pit has also commenced and will form a key part of the site’s underground services infrastructure.
In the coming weeks, excavation for the stormwater pits will commence. As all stormwater is required to be retained on site, stormwater cells will be installed beneath the basement slab, forming an integral part of the building’s underground stormwater management system.
Looking ahead to February, works will continue to focus on completing the remaining basement structure and progressing toward pouring the basement slab. This will include ongoing basement columns and walls, in-ground services, and preparation for the next phase of concrete pours.
