Spotlight on Exmouth

The regional town of Exmouth is well known to so many, particularly for Western Australians who travelled within the State throughout Covid lockdowns. Housing demand continues to dominate the news and when coupled with the uptick in tourism, the town of Exmouth has been under consistent pressure to keep up with that demand.

Celsius and the Fowler Group were proud to officially open the completed development of 24 one and two bedroom villas and apartments at 21 Cooyou Close this month.

We selected local builder DLR Building Co and construction commenced in July 2022. The work of our planners Taylor Burrell Barnett and design vision of Plus Architecture of an accommodation complex in a resort style setting on the Exmouth Marina is now realised. Construction of the first 13 single storey villas was completed in April 2023, prior to the solar eclipse, and the remaining 11 units were completed and ready for occupancy earlier this month. The dwellings have been built so they can be strata titled and either rented long term or sold to individuals in the future. An initial two-year lease to PHI Aviation has assisted in bringing the development to fruition whilst ultimately adding much needed additional accommodation to the town and assisting in building out the marina precinct.

Celsius also held a Community Engagement session in Exmouth this month to get community feedback on the development of Superlot D, the remaining undeveloped land in the Marina precinct. This is another joint venture with the Fowler Group which, like Celsius, is committed to creating housing solutions in Exmouth. The site is located at the southern end of the Exmouth Marina. The land use intent in the Exmouth Local Planning Strategy is for residential, tourism, and public spaces between waterfront lots in select locations and live-work mixed use composite development. Superlot D is large enough to deliver a mix of lot sizes and housing choices to meet Exmouth’s needs.  The Fowler Group and Celsius will have a strong focus on how built form can be delivered to Exmouth, not just land. The planning and approval process is expected to take 12 to 24 months to complete, so stay tuned for more updates on Exmouth.

Take a look at the new Tourism WA campaign “Western Australia  – Walking on a Dream” which has WA’s Daniel Ricciardo on a road trip to Exmouth and showcases just some of its natural beauty. I’m sure the locals will be hosting even more visitors as a result, and we are pleased to continue to contribute to the growth of the town.

All the very best,

Richard
